Angkor Wat and The Wonders of the World

Our family trip to Cambodia had taken place earlier this year. My
family (which consist of myself, hubby, daughter and son as well as my parent)
flown to Siem Reap by the AirAsia, Malaysias' Number One Cheap and
Affordable carrier.

We did not stay together, since my parents room was pre-booked and
sponsored by me and my youngest brother while my family choose to stay
at a budget hotel which is much more affordable and nearer to the Siem Reap
town.

On the day of arrival, nothing much was visited, ;) due to exhaustion.
We really started our sightseeing on the second day which we went to the
must see place in Siem Reap which is the Angkor Wat as well as the other
remains i.e. Bayon Temple, Tha Phrom(if anyone watched the Angelina Jolies'
Lara Croft Tomb Rider, take note that the filming was done here). Angkor Wat
is also nominated as one of the Ancients Wonders of the World.

Note: I am proud to say that I have visited quite a number of the
Wonders of the World ( the nominees tho').
1. Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia
2. Eifel Tower in Paris, France
3. Big Ben in London, United Kingdom
4. Channel Tunnel (UK & France)
5. Louvre, Paris, France
6. and proud to say that I am working at the (once the Highest building
in the world) PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

Back to my trip to Siem Reap, shopping is a must-do activity during my visit. So we
went to the new market and got quite a good deal of bargaining. Among the things which we bought were souveneirs, its simple musical instrument which was made from coconut shell (which i am not sure of its name hehhe!!), Cambodian silk and some other interesting gadgets which attacts my husbands and childrens' attention.

Third day was spent to visit the largest lake in South East Asia, the Tonle Sap on a commercial carrier 'boat/ferry'. This lake is not as large as it sound but mind you, it expands during the raining season. The nearby 'dry' land will be flooded with water and be a part of Tonel Sap. We manage to 'witness' the boatpeople of Tonle Sap performing their daily morning chores. After lunch we went back to Siem Reap Town and visited the National Silk Centre and learn the basics of Cambodian silk making. I didn't really shopped here because the items sold here are quite 'expensive' if compared to the things which i can buy from the New market(psar) in town.
Overall, this trip is very worthwhile, will be remembered as long as i live and will add to my list of wonders of the world visited.. :)
